You've buy 2 birds because i don't remember who had say you that he/she was bored to see some bunny or cat pic? XD I'm joking dear! ^^ I really love your shoot and i think that your new birds are awesome!
I know, it's the same here I had the same birds..big cage, 3 types 6 in total.. There was a fire, and they all died from the smoke. I still feel bad every time I see a caged bird.. :\ I'm sure you are taking good care of them ^__^
Beautiful birds!! They remind me of my canaries, specially the yellow one reminds me of my Blondie, my female canary that died last month because of a disease on her foot. I miss her so much. And the other one, the orange-ish, resembles my male canary, Kenny a lot! If Blondie would still be alive, they would look like this, together forever...
Also, I agree to Lehanan's comment. The canary on the low perch has it's nails too long. That's caused for the thin perchs they've got. You should get them thicker perchs, from varied sizes, and carefully cut it's nails or take it to a vet.
I hope they live happily together for a long time!!
Yes, if you cut the nail too short, near the vein, you could hurt them and make them bleed a lot.
I found this picture that shows the 3 zones of the nail: [link] (It's in portuguese, but it's understandable enough )
So, the safest zone to cut it's at #3. Between zone #3 and #2 you must be really careful not to cut the vein. If you don't feel confident enough, then you should take your birds to a vet.
I've got doves too, and I tried cutting their nails once. I cut a bit higher of what I should have, and my poor dove bled a lot. I felt really bad and never tried to do it myself again. My mom has natural talent for that, so I let her do the work.
You're welcome Well, since your canary has really long nails, the safe zone is much larger and less risky to cut, but the fear of hurting it it's understandable.
Ohh, ringneck doves!! How I love them! Another sad story: I had 3 ringnecks doves and two of them flew away through the window. I never saw them again. I still miss them... So I was left with the male (again) dove who is white ringneck (the ring is almost invisible) and I got him a girlfriend afterwards. They are together and happy now
Yes, they lay eggs! They are very soft and often crash easily though. Besides, for now we are not interested in having chicks.
Wow, that's a lot of doves!! Oh my, I totally understand all the work it must take you to keep their place clean! I have enough work just cleaning the canaries's cages and the whole balcony for the doves.
Aww, that's so cute! I've only seen turtle doves in pictures, but they look really beautiful!

These are two lovely canaries. You waited for the right time to take this photo. They look like they are conversing with one another as to what they are planning for their day. Peaceful and pleasant to look at.
